The composer
Born in Tórshavn in 1955, Pauli í Sandagerði is a science teacher who came to music through the piano and then through choirs. He has written folk songs, lieder, choir music, sonatas, oratorios, piano, chamber and orchestral music — and has been one of the pioneers of Faroese composition. His main interest is writing songs. They have been performed in Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, England, Scotland, the USA, France, Japan and Greece.
